The Farm
Short Film | 12th August 2013 | Written & Directed by James Doughty | Starring Ben Norman and James Doughty
Possibly two of the worst gangsters in history are told by their boss to meet a group of 'drug dealers' at an old farm outside of town. However, they're called the two worst gangsters in history for a reason...
Short comedy written & directed by James Doughty. This film was filmed over the course of around two hours. Since there was no real pre-production or crew for this film, Ben & James had star and film it on their own. The only shots with both Ben and James in are filming with the camera on a tripod, all hand held shots are filmed by either Ben or James, depending on who was in the shot. The only pre-production for this film was a short script written by Doughty that morning, the decision to make the film was very spontaneous. However, both Ben & James were pleased enough with the finished product to upload it to Doughty's YouTube channel. |
Wake
Short Film | April 2013 | Written & Directed by James Doughty | Starring Patrick Bull
"Wake" - and so he does. But what lies ahead?
A short sequence directed by James Doughty and starring Patrick Bull. Originally part of a series of six short sequences, Wake now stands alone. Wake is a surrealist short film about a man who makes to discover his own corpse and was filmed over the course of a cold morning in April 2013 without any script and only a rough shot list. Wake (or any of the other five shorts) were never intended to be anything more than a bit of practice for Doughty before his next film. However, as only one was made, Wake is now fairly redundant. As it was already uploaded to YouTube, James decided to leave it there and include it as part of his portfolio. |
The Escape
Short Film | 8th June 2012 | Directed by James Doughty | Produced by Tales of Acquiesce Films
When a young woman realises she is being followed by an unknown man, she soon begins to feel fear for the first time in years. Combined with the stress from her recent break-up from her fiance of five years, it isn’t long before the pressure begins to take it’s toll and her only hope rests on her plan to escape.
The Escape is a surrealist film about a woman who has gone through a traumatic experience and, due to the trauma, is battling with her own psyche. It is the middle of a three-part series: The Beginning // The Escape // The End, however, the other two short films have yet to be made. It's been made clear by Doughty that he wants to leave a nice gap between each release. The Beginning is due 2014, but has not been announced. |
