The Escape was written by Chloe Maxwell and James Doughty during Long Road Sixth Form College. Two versions of this film exist, the version edited by Chloe Maxwell for Long Road and the version edited by James Doughty for Tales of Acquiesce Films. The Long Road edit is five minute in length and doesn't follow any of the original structure, so James doesn't tend to include it. This version, the directors cut, is technically the original full length film envisioned by James during filming.
The Escape is James's favourite film, he adores everything about it including the memories he had while filming it. When writing the film, James came up with a concept in his head of a series of films. A beginning, middle and end. He chose to elect The Escape (the middle) as the film they would write, and The Beginning and The End have yet to be written or made. However, they are on the cards. Lynsey Smith, Ben Norman and James Doughty star in this film and all three are very interested in the prequel and sequel.
Being the biggest project he'd ever done at the time, James went all out with his edits, including creating trailers for the finished product, releasing a lot of behind the scenes content and of course marketing the film all over social media sites. The film was eventually released on the 8th June 2012 and has yet to be replaced as Doughty's favourite project.
